I am so happy to announce my new blog series called “Wellness Wednesday”! Each Wednesday my posts will be geared toward living a healthier lifestyle. Blog posts will range from workout tips/techniques to interviews from amazing individuals who focus on their health! I am really excited about today’s featured guest, Melissa W. from Faith Family Fashion!
Melissa is a 35yr old personal style blogger from Sarasota , Fl. She’s also a wife and mother whom works full time in the field of Aviation as a Certified Electronic Tech. When Melissa is not working a 10hr workday, she’s enjoying her free time away from the office doing what she loves the most which consists of, shopping, blogging, and spending quality time with family and friends.
ASW: What prompted you to start clean eating?
About a year ago I decided to change my health. It all started with lower back pain. I went to two Doctor’s who ran lots of tests, x-rays, ultra sounds, etc and a large bill but in the end one of the Doctor’s just sat me down and said look you’re 5’2 1/2 and you’re over weight 217.8 to be exact ! You need to lose some weight. I think he was the first person in my life to keep it 100 with me and if it wasn’t for his honesty I wouldn’t be where I am today!
ASW: In addition to clean eating, do you work out regularly?
My workout of choice is walking, cycling, and jump roping. May favorite of them all is walking! I love to listen to Gospel music and walk the bridge, the neighborhood or a beautiful park. I just love being outside. It’s my peace sometimes and I sing along with William Mcdowell or my favorite Tasha Cobbs
ASW: You have been blogging for a while now, how has your lifestyle change affected the way you view blogging/fashion? Or has it changed?
My blogging life has definitely taken a backseat due to my new lifestyle because I’m more focused on staying healthy. Before it was all about “I must update my blog weekly no matter what.” I plan on posting more looks soon. I’m kinda in this new phase of changing my style not sure of the direction yet. I’m just excited for the new me
ASW: Do you have any cheat days during the week or on the weekends? If so, what foods do you indulge in?
In the first 4 months of my journey you couldn’t get me to have a cheat day. Now I must admit I have too many lol. But I try and I recommend one cheat day a week my favorite thing to indulge in is chinese food.
ASW: What advice can you give to those who would like to try a clean eat diet?
The best advice I can give anyone is be honest with yourself, if you fail start over. Consistency is key and remember why you started every time I want to give up I remind myself why I started. For me it was more about my health not about the number on the scale. I hope that my journey will inspire many, am I where I want to be? No! but I’m not where I was I’m a happy, healthy, curvy, beautiful 180lbs!!
